Talks between the International Olympic Committee and the Japanese government have concluded, reaching the decision to postpone Tokyo 2020 to the summer of 2021.

This decision is the result of growing pressure from the international community and a number of athletes to reschedule.

Australia and Canada announced earlier this month that they would not be sending their athletes to the games if they were to take place this summer.

IOC president Michael Bach delivered a personal message to athletes across the globe, expressing his desire for the Olympic flame to be the beacon of light at the end of the very dark tunnel that Coronavirus has constructed.
