Molly Caudery, 17-year-old pole vaulter

Cornish pole vaulter Molly Caudery is departing for the Commonwealth Games in Australia next week as the youngest member of England athletics team.

Caudery will celebrate her 18th birthday just one day before travelling to the Gold Coast for her first international senior competition.

She said: “I was over the moon when I got selected for the Commonwealth Games. I couldn’t quite believe it. I didn’t expect to be selected, mainly because I never thought that they would take three pole vaulters.”
