When you use the internet, you want to be able to be as free as possible. You want to be able to read your favourite news sites, watch a video of a cat falling over, and talk to your friends all at the same time. In the US however, recent developments have indicated that the internet might not be free for much longer.
SaveTheInternet describes ‘net neutrality’ as:
“the basic principle that prohibits internet service providers like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon from speeding up, slowing down or blocking any content, applications or websites you want to use.”
This idea is under attack by mobile giants who want to split the internet up into fast and slow lanes, even controlling what customers are able to see and use.
