Tyler Harvey scored his fourth goal in three games to secure a vital win against play-off pushing St Albans in a see-saw encounter at Treyew Road.

Truro twice led through Stewart Yetton and Arran Pugh but were pegged back each time before Harvey converted calmly from the penalty spot 12 minutes from time to seal the three points.

The win sees Truro move up to 15th place and further away from the relegation battle following back-to-back home wins.

Lee Hodges, the Truro City manager, told reporters: “We’d like a back-to-back win and now we have one. It’s very pleasing and I’m just pleased that through the team’s battling. We’ve picked up points against a very good team.”

St Albans skipper Lee Chappell had the best chance of the first half for the visitors as he raced clean through on goal, only to be denied by Martin Rice in the Truro goal.

The breakthrough came in the 27th minute for the White Tigers, with Yetton scoring his first goal for the club since his return. Some good work down the left by Niall Thompson saw his pull-back to Ryan Brett cleared off the line, only for Yetton to smash home the rebound.

St Albans’ veteran forward Jamie Cureton continued to pull the strings late on for St Albans in the first half with a neat flick that found the feet of Charlie Walker, who wastefully sliced the ball over.

It didn’t take long for St Albans to find an equaliser however, with Tom Bender heading home from a corner only a few minutes into the second half.

There was an immediate response from Truro straight after, scoring from a corner themselves through towering centre-back Aaran Pugh who put the home side back in front.

BRETT FELLED

The lead didn’t last long though as Cureton’s pass found Walker in the Truro box who slotted the ball home to level the score at 2-2.

Truro took the lead for the third time in the match after George Casey was deemed to shove Ryan Brett in the box, with the referee awarding a penalty.

Harvey, who scored from the penalty spot in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Gosport, was on hand to tuck away the spot-kick and snatch the win for Truro.
