Falmouth Rugby Club in action against Plymouth

Falmouth Rugby club have made it through to the semifinals of the Cornwall RFU cup after Penryn pulled out of the fixture due to injuries and unavailable players..

Falmouth RFC are currently flying in the league, winning 8 out of 9 league games, with especially convincing results against the big teams aswell as having reached the semifinal of the cup without having conceded a point.

Jon Baglow, 26, is a second row for Falmouth, and can see how the form of the team has lifted everyone in and around the club.

“We’ve got off to an amazing start and there’s a great buzz everywhere you go in the club at the moment.

“I mean we wanted to play the game, especially after Penryn’s shock loss to Lanner last week, but obviously we are also pleased to be in the next round of the cup and have a weekend of rest at the same time.”

Falmouth will be facing either St. Ives or Truro in the next round of the cup and Baglow acknowledges how important it is for the team to keep up their form, and most of all their efforts.

“Our confidence has grown more and more as the season has gone on but we’re only too aware of how bitter it will be if we don’t keep effort levels high.

“Truro are sitting high in the league above us so they would be the bigger test I think.

“I think we’ve got every chance – on our day we’ve been proven to move mountains!”
